Hello, I would like to invite you to learn more about sharing the Gospel with Christ’s littlest followers.
On the first Sunday and second Sunday, we will be offering Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word adapts the Sunday liturgy and makes it relevant and understandable to their lives. The message is shared in age appropriate ways. We invite the children and youth in all grades to attend.
After the Liturgy of the Word, the children we be called to the front of the church and will be greeted by our celebrant. They and their adult leaders are then dismissed with song and a blessing to discover their Gospel message. It is still considered a Mass for them, since they never leave Mass, they are just dismissed to participate at their level.
The children/youth will return to their seats in the church to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with their families.
We will use “Children Celebrate” resource from Pflaum Publishing group. These children’s leaflets contain prayer, the readings and an activity that may be shared with their families. We will also use coloring posters that include the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation.
Click on the following link to view the children’s leaflets (http://pflaum.com/preview/childrencel/childrencel.pdf).
This lesson will only take 15-20 mins. Click here to view some simple instructions for leading.
One of the ushers will come down to notify the leaders that they have 2 minutes to return to the Church.
I am asking and inviting everyone to participate in offering this ministry as it speaks of our commitment to reaching out and providing an accessible understanding of the weekly readings to the youngest members of our faith community.
I need 2 people to commit to a few Sundays, and then we will utilize a rotating schedule that will be posted in the bulletin and in the east sacristy.
We would like to have prayer leaders/aides appropriate to the number of children participating in order to maintain a prayerful atmosphere. So, we will need one adult leader, one adult assist and 2 student helpers.
Will you respond to his Call to share the Scripture?
If you have any questions or would like to join us, please contact the parish office at (308) 254-2828.
Thanks,
Joan Falcon DRE (K-6)
